Amelia Mendicino Obituary

Amelia M. Mendicino, 92, of Glassport, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Born June 30, 1928, in Glassport. She worked at Kaufmann’s Department Store at Century III Mall for 24 years. She was a former member of the St. Cecilia Bowling League, loved to square dance for many years, and enjoyed years of working at the fish fries for Queen of the Rosary Parish. More recently, she enjoyed reading, building jigsaw puzzles, and playing Bingo and cards. She touched all who knew her in a beautiful way, and loved staying connected to family and friends through handwritten notes and cards for all occasions. Daughter of the late Dominic and Domenica Aquilante. She was married for 53 years to the late Leo A. Mendicino. Millie was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; daughters, Ann Bisignani and her husband Jerry and Dolores Colarosa and her husband Don; grandchildren, Brian & Allie Bisignani, Jeffrey & Aimee Bisignani, Nicholas & Hannah Colarosa, and Krista Colarosa; great grandchildren Kelsey, Josh, Ryleigh, Addie, Gannon and Callie; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary (Aquilante) DiIenno, and brothers, Pete and Nick Aquilante. The family extends a special thank you to Oakleaf Personal Care, her home for a wonderful and loving two years; and to Anova Home Health Care, who took such remarkable and loving care of her in her final days. Due to the pandemic, there will be a private viewing, funeral mass and interment. A celebration of her life will be held this summer for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oakleaf Personal Care Home, 3800 Oakleaf Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227
